CHESTER Zoo and Rhino Mania are launching a competition and inviting children aged five-11 to send in their birthday cards to celebrate Bashira the rhino’s first birthday on Saturday, May 15.
The zoo’s rhino keepers will judge the entries and the winner will receive a rhino adoption package.
As a supporter of the Rhino Mania public art event in July, the zoo has created a rhino birthday card template which can be downloaded from www.chesterzoo.org.
All entries must use the template card available from the zoo’s website and state the name, age, address and phone number. The competition is only open to children aged five-11 years old.
Send your decorated birthday card entries to: Birthday Card Competition, (Marketing), Chester Zoo, Cedar House, Upton-by-Chester, Chester CH2 1LH. Deadline for entries is Friday, May 7.
From July 5, the Rhino Mania event will showcase up to 70 5ft high rhinos along the streets of Chester for 10 weeks from July.
Each rhino will be painted by local and regional professional artists and community groups, with many of them being auctioned off to raise funds for Chester Zoo’s Black Rhino Field Project in Africa and Ellesmere Port’s Hospice of the Good Shepherd at the end of the event.
