INTERNET users can now watch video highlights of council meetings on YouTube after Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) launched its own channel.

Spokeswoman Julia Thorley-Morse said: “The aim is to promote services and events provided by the council to a new audience who may be more likely to visit YouTube than the authority’s own site.

“It is just one of the ways the council is looking at promoting its services and events to people of all ages.”

YouTube is a resource site where you can host, tag and share videos and it is the leading destination worldwide on the internet for video.

Council leader Cllr Mike Jones said: “We are one of the first new authorities to openly embrace this use of new media.

“We will be adding regular updates and videos including latest news, interviews and even fly-through tours of regeneration proposals for our towns, giving you more access than ever to your council.”
