WHEN Chester housewife Karen Lancaster entered a competition on Facebook to win a VIP celebrity-style makeover she didn’t think she stood a chance of winning.
The busy mum-of-two rarely gets the chance to pamper herself in between looking after her toddler daughters so when she saw the competition, run by Schwarzkopf LIVE Salon Style to find inspirational women in need of a fresh look for 2012, she jumped at the chance.
Thrilled when she learned she was the lucky lady to have been picked from thousands of women across the country for a star-studded photo shoot, Karen, from Hoole, was even more excited to hear that, as Schwarzkopf’s ambassador, TV star Louise Redknapp would be getting involved in choosing her brand new look.
“I’d seen Louise’s work before and it was great to meet her,” said Karen, 38.
“We had a good chat, she gave her opinions on what style I should go for and I was shown behind-the-scenes hair secrets and got to hear professional makeup tips.
“I really did feel like a princess.”
Schwarzkopf experts gave Karen’s hair a boost, re-colouring it and using products to make it thicker and glossier, re-hydrated her skin and used gold eye shadow to bring out her eye colour, before completing the look with a nude leather jacket, teamed with camel trousers.
“It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I’m so glad I entered because I absolutely love it,” added Karen.
“The past few years have flown by and, with the big 4-0 only a few years away, I just wanted to feel good in myself, hold my head up high and indulge myself in a bit of me-time.
“It felt a million miles away from my normal life.”
