WREXHAM could sell defender Steve Roberts and striker Hector Sam to Chester City.

But the Dragons have refused to consider parting with Trinidad international Dennis Lawrence.

City chairman Stephen Vaughan said: "Wrexham have verbally informed us that Lawrence isn't for sale, but we were told to put our bids for Sam and Roberts in writing and they will be considered.

"A fax has been sent with what we consider to be a fair offer for the players."

A Wrexham spokesman, however, said a letter from City contained no reference to specific players.

"We have replied to Chester saying that none of the players are for sale," the spokesman added. "But every player has his price."
