THE advantage of spending money in your own community is highlighted in a new scheme.

Cheshire West and Chester Council Shop Local campaign has launched The Charisma Card to Neston’s business community.

The card provides residents with discounts in more than 270 businesses to encourage residents to continue using firms in the local area.

Each household in the Cheshire West and Chester area can receive one free Charisma card and people who work in the area are able to buy a card.

Neston and District Chamber of Trade and Neston Town Council hosted an event to raise awareness of the initiative.

Several Neston businesses have already signed up to the scheme and it is hoped that residents using the card will buy locally, helping to boost the local economy and improve the well-being of the community.

Carrie Spacey of Neston and District Chamber of Trade said: “This is a great opportunity for shops and services to get involved in a scheme to persuade more people to use local businesses more often.

“This scheme has been running successfully in Chester since 2003 and with the support of the local businesses, we are optimistic that it can be just as successful in Neston.”

One of the main attractions for businesses is that it’s free to join and for the residents it offers a range of discounts including restaurants and hair and beauty salons.

There are more than 270 businesses accepting the Charisma card within the Cheshire West area.

The team will be working with local towns and villages across Cheshire West in the coming month to boost the membership from businesses and residents.

Charisma produces a monthly e-newsletter highlighting the latest offers, new businesses joining plus regular competitions.Š

One card is available free for every household.
