CHESHIRE West and Chester Council has been awarded the Charter for Councillor Development for the training it put in place for its 72 members both in its shadow year and from April 1, 2009.

The glass trophy from the North West Employers Organisation was presented to Cllr Mike Jones, the leader of the council.

Member Learning Panel chairwoman Cllr Razia Daniels said: “I am excited by the possibilities of what can be achieved by our members who, from day one, were part of an organisation that recognised the importance of member learning and development. Members are continuously trained and developed, so they can undertake their duties and responsibilities to their full potential.”
