VOLUNTEER drivers are sought for a new British Red Cross service which will deliver medical equipment to people in Cheshire.

Each year, the British Red Cross provides 1,300 pieces of equipment such as wheelchairs and commodes on short-term loans.

The aim is to support to vulnerable people – whether they are recovering from an operation, need a wheelchair or need help coping in their homes. Now, the organisation wants to be able to drop off equipment to people’s homes, rather than them having to collect them from Red Cross sites.

Volunteers will do shifts of up to four hours on weekdays, mornings or afternoons.

Volunteers will receive training, undergo a CRB check, and will need to hold a clean driving licence and be able to lift wheelchairs and other medical equipment safely.
