CHESHIRE, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside police are setting-up a regional committee so they can work together and improve their services across the North West.

Chairman of Cheshire Police Authority, Margaret Ollerenshaw, said: “Chief Constables and their forces are working more closely together to provide motorway policing, underwater search, forensics, and a regional crime unit.

“We know criminals don’t stop at geographic boundaries and together we have invested in tackling serious and organised crime.

“We are providing new ways for police to collaborate on issues that cross boundaries and disrupt criminal gangs operating across the region.

“And we can continue to provide officers and staff in our neighbourhoods to solve local problems of crime and disorder.

“We want to see every community across the North West confident their own police force is making even better use of extra resources made available by them and that all communities are safe and feel safer.”
