POLICE and paramedics were called out to Littler Lane in Winsford in the early hours of Sunday morning after a 65-year-old man sustained head injuries.

An ambulance was sent out at 12.30am after an emergency call, and Cheshire Police officers were dispatched three hours later.

Force spokeswoman Shelley Williams said: “At 3.30am on Sunday we were informed of an earlier incident on Littler Lane, Winsford, whereby a 65-year-old local man had been hospitalised, having been found at the roadside with a head injury.”

The pensioner remains at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire but is now “sitting up and talking”.

Police were initially investigating whether the man had been attacked, but said today “he received his injuries as a result of an accident”.
