SHARKS are biting back with the help of the Blue Planet Aquarium.
The popular tourist attraction is launching a nationwide hunt to find Britain’s favourite shark as part of its We Love Sharks campaign.
The Cheshire Oaks aquarium is going shark-mad during the holidays with We Love Sharks trails, exhibitions and talks.
There will also be new species of shark on show including zebra sharks.
Blue Planet park director Andy Hygate said: “Each of the six sharks has been nominated by a different member of our zoological team and they will be using a variety of fun and informative activities to try and win support for their candidates.
“People can find out more information about each of the species and vote for them either here at the aquarium or via our website.
“The candidates are Storm the sand tiger, Zoë the zebra shark, Leo the lemon shark, Nigel the nurse shark, Bambi the bamboo shark and Bella the black tip.”
People who vote for their favourite shark will have a chance of winning an annual pass for the Blue Planet Aquarium in 2010.
The winning shark will be announced in October.
The Blue Planet is home to Europe’s largest collection of sharks and rays with more than 40 different species on display from native dogfish and bull huss to tropical lemon and nurse sharks.
At the aquarium’s heart is the incredible 3.8 million litre Caribbean Reef display, complete with 230ft underwater tunnel.
The Blue Planet Aquarium is open daily at Cheshire Oaks from 10am, except Christmas Day.
