A COUPLE who transformed an Ellesmere Port chapel into five flats have become the 100th members of the council’s Landlord Accreditation Scheme.

Stephen and Paulette Quicke converted the former Welsh chapel in Westminster Road with the help of a grant from Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC).

They are the 100th members of the council scheme, managed by CWaC in partnership with Cheshire East and Warrington Borough Council, since it was set up in September 2010.

The initiative, which involves several council teams working jointly with the private sector, recognises good landlords who offer good quality rental accommodation in the region.

Cllr Herbert Manley, executive member for prosperity, said: “Close working involving different council departments and Mr and Mrs Quicke has led to an excellent achievement all round.

“We now have two new members for the Cheshire Landlord Accreditation Scheme as well as modern homes for some of our tenants who were on the waiting list. A good job all round.”

Labour regeneration spokesman Ben Powell added: “The Landlord Accreditation Scheme is a fantastic initiative, which has really helped to drive up standards across the borough.

“I would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Quicke for being the 100th member of the scheme and also their new tenants who have moved into their accommodation.”

The council’s Housing Solutions Team can now nominate people from its waiting list to become tenants of the Quickes’ development – the couple’s first venture into the rental business.
