CHESHIRE Fire and Rescue Service is warning people about the dangers of swimming in open water after a man died in a Cheshire lake.

Crews were called out to Hatchmere Lake, off Delamere Road, just after 12pm on Wednesday, July 15, after reports came in of a swimmer disappearing from sight. Although they launched an extensive search the body was recovered at 2pm.

Ian West, station manager for Northwich said: “This is the second fatal incident in the past two months. I cannot stress enough the dangers of open water swimming. It is so easy to get into difficulties.”
