CHESHIRE Constabulary is investigating two fires reported in Ellesmere Port last week.

Police and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called out to reports of two fires in Buckingham Gardens and Sandringham Gardens in the early hours of March 31.

Offenders had ignited curtains hanging near an open window of a bungalow on Buckingham Gardens while the occupants were asleep inside.

The fire was quickly discovered and extinguished.

A short time later in Sandringham Gardens, offenders had made attempts to set fire to a car parked on the driveway of a house and smashed a ground floor window.

Fortunately, nobody was injured as a result of either incident.

Police have since arrested two local men aged 20 and 21 years on suspicion of arson and they have been granted police bail pending further investigation.
