A NEW schools liaison officer has been appointed by Cheshire Constabulary to cover Cheshire West.
PC Karl Williamson has served with the force for 21 years, and carried out a variety of roles including collision investigator and trainer for new recruits.
He takes over from PC Liz Stanton, who has moved on to work as Safer Schools and Young Persons’ Officer.
PC Williamson said: “I am looking forward to getting to know all the schools and building a good relationship with the teachers, parents and pupils.”
PC Williamson will be working with all Mid Cheshire schools to educate pupils on a wide range of subjects – including crime prevention and internet safety.
“Social networking sites are very popular with young people and when used correctly are harmless,” he said. “I want to work with pupils to help them understand what type of information or photographs are not suitable to be put on these sites.
“I am also going to talk to them about ‘cyber bullying’ and anti-social behaviour.”
