A MUCH longed-for baby has been crowned the cutest child in Cheshire.
Tali Day, who turns one next week, was picked from nearly 300 entries of the county’s bonniest babies to be named Cheshire Baby of the Year.
Mum Lisa, from Crewe, says she is ‘over the moon’ and ‘so proud’ of the daughter she had waited so long to have.
She said: “I’m 41 this year and Tali is something that I had wanted my whole life. I didn’t think I would ever get her.
“She’s just my pride and joy, and to me she’s the most beautiful girl in the world.”
After taking Tali to Trinity Mirror’s photography session at Sainsbury’s in Nantwich, Lisa, of Holland Street, asked all her friends and family to vote for the youngster.
“I’m part of a dance troupe and I’ve got a lot of friends in other dance troupes across Stoke and Manchester, so they all voted,” she said. “They all absolutely adore Tali.
“She’s a very cheeky little girl. It’s not often that she cries – she’s just very bubbly.”
As the overall winner of the competition, Tali has won a 20in x 16in canvas print, 10 weeks of Water Babies classes, a wetsuit, a waterproof nappy and an underwater photo shoot with three digital prints.
Lisa added: “We’re very excited about the photo shoot. I’m going to buy Tali a new dress specially for it – something eye-catching. She definitely deserves it!”
A total of 299 children were entered into our competition, split into four age categories – 0-9 months, 10-18 months, 19-36 months and 3-5 years.
Pictures of all the entrants were printed in the Pioneer, before readers were asked to vote for their favourite.
More than 6,300 votes were cast, with 10p from every vote going to charity. Five pence will be donated to the One in Eleven appeal and the other 5p to Miles for Smiles. A total of £633 was raised.
The runners-up were Dylan Bates from Blacon in the 0-9 months age category, Izaac Latham from Nantwich in the 10-18 months age category, Leyla Digney from Broughton in the 19-36 months age category and Taylor-Jack Barnett from Nantwich in the 3-5 years age category.
They have each won a 10in x 8in framed picture, 10 weeks of Water Babies classes, a wetsuit and waterproof nappy.
