RESIDENTS of rural areas in Ellesmere Port & Neston, and across Cheshire, are often disadvantaged when it comes to having access to shops and services.

Email and internet provide enormous opportunities to many.

But few people want to buy one ‘“’just to see if it might be useful’ because of the high cost involved, it has been found when questioning residents.

Warwickshire-based Arthur Rank Centre has now set up a Computers for Rural People scheme.

It is working in association with global charity Oasis to provide computers at a low cost to encourage people to take the first step.

They can provide a computer pre-loaded with Microsoft software and delivered to your door with three months warranty from just £99 for a 256Mb memory system or £129 for a 1Gb system.

The range is soon to be expanded to include laptops.

All computers come pre-installed with Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003, three months warranty and free delivery.

All they ask is a voluntary donation of at least £12 to cover costs and support their charitable activities.

Further discounts are also available for community projects.
