A SPOOKY dance event will be held to honour a much-loved Ellesmere Port teenager who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year.

Tony Williams, of Overpool Road, was just 16 when he lost his fight for life on May 13, after contracting a rare oesophageal cancer.

This type of disease normally affects adults aged over 50, with just 8,200 cases diagnosed a year.

Determined to set up a charity in his honour, Tony’s devastated family have set up the Big Bottle Society, which raises awareness of gastric cancer in young men.

The West Cheshire College student, who was studying music at the Handbridge campus, had recorded a YouTube video before his death, in which he joked about setting up a Big Bottle Society while holding a giant plastic Coca-Cola bottle.

On Sunday, October 28, his family will come together for a Hallowe’en-themed charity night at The Laugh Inn, Chester, with more than 15 dance acts providing entertainment.

At Apsara Dance presents… A Nightmare on Station Road there will be pole, ballet, contemporary and group dance with a spooky theme, songs and raffle prizes donated by local businesses.

This time the money raised will go to a similar awareness charity called Oesophagoose, based in the North East.

Tony’s sister Lisa, a dance teacher who has organised the event, said: “I teach ladies in and around Chester pole fitness and dance and this event is to showcase their skills learned in lessons and to raise awareness for the Big Bottle Society. We would love as many people as possible to come along.”

VIP tickets cost £10 and standard tickets are £7.50.
