A CHARITY night held in Ellesmere Port raised more than £2,000 for The Teenage Cancer Trust.

There was fun, glamour and glitz on the bill at Leanne Salisbury’s burlesque night in aid of the trust, as well as Help A Capital Child.

The 32-year-old who works as a biomedical scientist in histopathology at the Wirral University Teaching Hospital, hosted the event at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall and welcomed a generous turnout, which raised £2,074 in total.

A large raffle offered prizes up for grabs including an overnight stay for two at Wirral’s Mere Brook House Hotel and special deals for ticket holders such as a burlesque beauty package for £30.

And later this month will be the culmination of Leanne’s fundraising feat when she walks along the Great Wall of China in a gruelling 10-day challenge that she has funded herself.

Money raised from this will go to the same charities.

Leanne said: “The night was a massive success, I was overwhelmed.

“The next show is already being planned and is looking awesome!

“Help a Capital Child is supporting Teenage Cancer Trust units across the UK and the funds I have raised fund specialist hospital units and care for teenagers and young people with cancer.”

She added: “For six teenagers a day, life changes overnight when they are told they have cancer.

“I want to help make sure that cancer doesn’t stop these teenagers in their tracks and that they are given the best possible quality of life and chances of survival.”
