THE 2010 Chemicals Northwest Awards are officially open for entries.

The awards will showcase the world- class chemical companies in the region and highlight the achievements of the sector.

There are nine categories in total: Innovation – Product or Process, Sustainable Manufacturing, Environmental Technology for the Chemical Industry, Investor in Training, Corporate Social Responsibility, International Trade, Service Provider, Young Achiever and Company of the Year.

Last year Ellesmere Port-based Innospec won the Sustainable Manufacturing Award, while SAFC Hi-Tech was shortlisted in the Best Community Project category.

Dr Jenny Clucas, Chemicals Northwest’s CEO, said: “The chemical sector contributes a staggering £10bn to the North West economy.

“This industry deserves recognition and it is great to be able to highlight the expertise we have here in our region through the Chemicals Northwest Awards.”

There will be a Chemical Elements event at the Jurys Inn, Liverpool, on Thursday, December 10, for member companies to find out more about the awards.

The Chemicals Northwest Awards will take place at the Midland Hotel, Manchester, on Thursday, May 20.
