A RUDHEATH resident celebrated her 100th birthday in style this week at a street party organised by her housing trust.

Phyllis Sidebotham was presented with a special bouquet of flowers at her home at Brook Lane on Wednesday by Weaver Vale Housing Trust (WVHT) chief executive Steve Jennings and his staff.

And a lavish street party with drinks and a buffet was held outside her home by her son Michael, and daughter-in-law Joan, along with neighbours and friends.

Phyllis, who was born in Lincoln and lived in Sheffield and Warrington before moving to Rudheath in 1979, also has two grandsons, Andrew and Neil, and two great- granddaughters, Sophie and Molly.

Clutching her telegram from the Queen, Phyllis said: “I’m so happy everybody has come to wish me happy birthday, I’ve never had so many people come to visit me in all my life – it’s wonderful.”

Crissy Watson, WVHT’s Independent Living Team manager, said: “She is an absolutely wonderful lady and on behalf of the trust I would like to wish her all the best on this special occasion.”
