ELLESMERE Port’s dignitiaries will be guests of honour at the opening of the town’s newly refurbished Wilkinson store on Thursday.

Ellesmere Port mayor Cllr Pat Merrick and mayoress Lynn Clare will officially open the new-look store to the public in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9am.

They will be joined by Wilkinson’s staff, as well as pupils of William Stockton Community Primary School who will be distributing summer themed posters in the store and singing songs.

The first 40 shoppers to the tills will receive a complimentary Wilkinson badminton set, while the first 100 customers will be given a summer themed cupcake from a local bakery.

There will also be a raffle to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, where the lucky winner will win a six-piece patio furniture set.

Store manager Chris Kearns said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the mayor and mayoress of Ellesmere Port to the store to help us celebrate the reopening.

“Not only will the Ellesmere Port store have a more modern layout, creating an all-round better shopping experience, it will also stock an extended range of great value seasonal and everyday products.”

And the celebrations will continue on Saturday, July 8, when the first 60 early morning shoppers will receive a complimentary sports ball and the first 95 children a free Cadbury milk chocolate medal.

There will also be a free face-painter in store transforming children into some fun characters from 10am until 4pm.
