A WINSFORD childminder is celebrating after receiving an outstanding Ofsted report.

Amanda Clarke met with Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector, Christine Gilbert, in Westminster on Saturday to discuss how other childminders can reach such high standards.

The mum of two, who started childminding in August last year, is thrilled to have been awarded an “outstanding” grading in all 14 categories of the rigorous Ofsted inspection.

“Outstanding” is the highest judgement that Ofsted awards in its reports.

Inspections are carried out at least once every three years and no notice is given before they take place. They look into the effectiveness of the childminder in helping children to be healthy, make a positive contribution and protecting them from harm and neglect.

27-year-old Amanda was taken by surprise by her inspection in July last year. She said: “I was very nervous. I had no idea that an inspector would be turning up but I just went with the flow and gave it one hundred per cent as usual.”

Amanda has completed more than 20 courses in childcare and is in the process of setting up her own childminding business.

She is delighted with her result and puts her success down to sheer dedication and support from her family.
