WREXHAM defender Brian Carey will have a scan tomorrow in a bid to determine the extent of a knee injury.

The Dragons club captain had minor surgery six weeks ago to clean up the joint but his rehabilitation has not gone as well as had been hoped.

Club physiotherapist Mel Pejic, who accompanied Carey when he visited a specialist yesterday, said: "The scan will hopefully identify exactly if anything was missed when the operation was done.

"Brian's recovery has not been as we would have expected so we need to find out if there is a problem and what it is."

Carey's team-mate Darren Ferguson, who missed last Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Milton Keynes Dons due to a one-match suspension, hopes to return against Hartlepool United at the Racecourse this weekend.

He is undergoing a dental operation today for the removal of troublesome wisdom teeth and will not be back in training until Thursday.

But defender Craig Morgan, who sustained a slight hamstring strain at Huddersfield Town 10 days ago, is in line for a first-team recall in place of team-mate Shaun Pejic, who has been banned for one game after collecting a fifth booking of the season against Stockport last week.
