RESIDENTS of an Ellesmere Port care scheme took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Pensioners at Hollymere Extra Care Development, New Grosvenor Road, tucked into everything from full breakfasts to pastries and biscuits, as well as drinking plenty of tea and coffee for the national charity event last week.

More than 150 cups of tea and coffee were drunk and nearly 300 biscuits eaten across Cheshire and participants hope to beat the record £10m that has already been raised from the 51,000 coffee mornings held across the UK in 2011.

Alison Parry, facilities and event manager at Hollymere, said: “We all had so much fun organising the event and the residents really got into the spirit of the morning, discussing how they enjoy their favourite brew and which biscuits make the best ‘dunkers’.

“Macmillan is a fantastic charity and we’re honoured that we’ve been able to support the cause this year.”
