UP to five new signings will be unveiled by Caernarfon Town when they host Porthmadog in the final Loosemores’ Cup Group A match tonight.
New Canaries boss Steve O’Shaughnessy will introduce Ben Heald, Ian Owen and Mark Thomas.
Heald is goalkeeper and captain of Cymru Alliance side Llanfairpwl, Owen is a wing-back at the same club and Mark Thomas plays in midfield for Alliance champions Glantraeth.
O’Shaughnessy is also hoping to finalise the signing of two other unnamed players, whose involvement will hinge on their being released by their clubs and the registration clearance.
He said: “We are keen to get a win to kick-start our season and bringing in fresh blood will help to stimulate the squad’s enthusiasm.”
Porthmadog, who beat Town 3-1 in the home cup clash in August, may also ring the changes, with Geraint Mitchell, Mark Cook, Barry Jones, Ywain Gwynedd and Arwel Jones all on stand-by.
Captain and centre-back Ryan Davies is out with a knee injury, left-back Mike Foster will check a thigh problem and striker Carl Owen could be out.
Joint-manager Viv Williams said: “Recent results have not gone our way but we have deserved better.”
