A BUS driver who allegedly drove a double decker bus into a low bridge has been bailed to appear before magistrates next Friday.

On Monday, Robert Anthony Bush, 52, of Dryden Close, Beechwood, Prenton, in Wirral, failed to appear at Chester, Ellesmere Port & Neston Magistrates' Court to answer a charge of dangerous driving.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, but this has since been withdrawn.

Police spokesman Ivor Lewis said: 'Officers have made contact with the defendant and arrangements have been made for him to attend court.'
