A MAN living rough in the Llangollen area has been jailed for three years after admitting burglary at a local house.

Anthony Stephen O’Grady, 42, cut himself as he broke into the property.

Police took a sample and found it contained Grady’s DNA.

At Mold Crown Court he admitted burglary at Laburnum Villa in Llangollen in April – the latest in a long list of convictions.

The court heard how he had previously burgled a community centre, a school, a pub and even a church.

Judge Philip Richards told O’Grady he appeared incapable of addressing his drug problem but if he did not do so then he would simply go to prison for longer and longer periods.

House burglaries really were horrific crimes, more akin to an offence against the person rather than an offence against property, he said.

One only had to read the victim impact statement in the case to see how someone’s confidence could be destroyed by their space being invaded and their property, valued at £1,500, taken, he added.
