THE British Driving Society (BDS) from North East Wales held a ‘Lonsdale Drag’, raising £200 for Nightingale House Hospice.

The BDS were offering people with the highest sealed bid the chance to get a prime box seat alongside the coachman and get carried away in a Lonsdale Drag carriage from Maelor Equestrian Centre in Hope on a route stopping at Llyndir Hall Hotel, Rossett, and The Swan Inn, Higher Kinnerton for refreshments, before returning to Hope.

Community fundraiser Laura Parry said: “It was an excellent fundraiser, the sun was shining, lots of spectators turned up to cheer the carriages along and the amount raised was fantastic. We would like to thank the BDS for all of their kind help and support.”

The BDS members are passionate about their sport of carriage driving. The Society also runs training courses, organises drives, shows, social events and fun days. Their patron is the Duke of Edinburgh.
