EASTER Sunday at the Maelor Equestrian Centre in Hope sees the British Driving Society North East Wales stage the Art of Carriage Driving.

The event is in aid of Nightingale House Hospice and Clwyd Special Riding Centre.

The day begins at 10am with a series of demonstrations including traditions of coaching, pairs driving and putting to and driving a tandem.

The highlight of the day will be the departure of the Lonsdale Drag Coach, setting off with a full compliment of passengers and driven by expert coachman Mark Evans of Carmarthen.

The coach is more than 140 years old and will set off from Hope at 11.30am to The Llyndir Hall Hotel, arriving at about 12.30pm, when they will have a short break before returning via Higher Kinnerton and stopping at about 2pm.

The event is supported by Awards for all Wales and Flintshire County Council tourism grant.

Admission is free to under-17s and £5 for adults and there is free parking. The full day’s entertainment will finish at 5pm. Refreshments will be available to buy.
