A TWELVE-year-old boy was today fighting for his life after crashing a stolen motorbike into a pub wall.
The boy was riding the wrong way along a oneway street in Widnes with a 14-year-old passenger, when he lost control of the machine.
The red Honda 124cc off the road straight into the wall of the Mersey hotel in Mersey Road.
The boy suffered severe head injuries. His ction in Alder Hey hospital was today "serious but stable".
The passenger was treated for minor injuries, arrested and freed on police bail.
Police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash at 4. 30pm yesterday.
"We believe the motorbike was stolen and a 14-year-old boy has been arrested.
"We would appeal for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch with us."
The crash was today described as "an accident waiting to happen" byresident Mary Campbell, who is used to seeing youngsters riding around on motorbikes.
Mary, from Suffolk Street, said: "It is a terrible thing to happen, noone wants something like this to happen to a young boy.
"But the truth is I see kids riding around on motorbikes all the time."
