TWO bogus workmen stole from an elderly widow in Neston.

They struck between 2.30-4pm on Wednesday after one told the 71-year-old her gutters needed cleaning. She agreed for him to do the work for £15.

The pair distracted the victim several times, before one walked into her kitchen asking to be paid. The men then disappeared.

Later the woman found £50 had been taken from a pot of money.

The first offender was white, 5ft 9ins tall, 40-45 years-old, of average build with short, black brushed back hair, wearing a navy blue sweatshirt with “Roofing Services” written on it in white lettering. He was clean shaven and well spoken with no distinctive accent.

His accomplice was white, 5ft 2ins tall, in his early 30s, of slight build with short light brown hair, clean shaven, wearing a light-coloured sweatshirt with a hood and white T-shirt.

Witnesses should call PC Sarah Baliss on 01244 613161 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
