TWO goals from Neil Black gave Colwyn Bay the points in a 2-0 win at Quorn to keep their bid for the play-offs on track.

With six of their rivals all dropping points, seven points now separates the six clubs between third-placed Grantham and eighth-placed Colwyn Bay. The Seagulls have games in hand on four of the other five going into tomorrow's home game against Stocksbridge Park Steels.

So this was an important away win for Gary Finley's side as they made it four wins and a draw in their last five games and played some of their best passing football of the season.

Quorn keeper Sean Bowles saved well from Black and Lee Spike before Colwyn Bay took the lead on 42 minutes with Black picking up a long kick from keeper Jamie Speare and taking two touches before drilling a shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Speare made a fine one-handed save to turn a near post header from Neil Turner round the post just before the break, and Colwyn Bay extended their lead six minutes into the second half.

Steve Wynn and Lee Spike combined well on the right to set up the chance for Black to burst into the box and tuck another shot past Bowles for his 25th goal of the campaign.

The keeper saved well to deny Spike, half-time substitute John Lawless and Robbie Williams as the Bay bossed the game, while Quorn's only threat was a late effort from James Pelier which clipped the bar.
