THE bishop of Wrexham received an honorary fellowship from the town’s university exactly 50 years to the day since he became a priest.

The award from Glyndr University was in recognition of Bishop Edwin Regan’s commitment to the community in Wrexham.

He was presented with the fellowship following Mass at a ceremony in the university’s William Aston Hall on Sunday afternoon.

Professor Michael Scott, vice chancellor of Glyndr University, paid tribute to the work of Bishop Regan since his appointment as the bishop of Wrexham in November 1994.

“His dedication and commitment to making the town a better place to work, live, study and to visit has been there for everyone to see,” he said.
