Twenty-two senior netball players from Bishop Heber High School will fly to Bridgetown in Barbados on Friday, February 13, for a 12 day tour in Barbados.

Students from Year 11, 12 and 13 will play eight challenging matches against local high schools and clubs. Opposition is always tough in the Caribbean, where they take their sport very seriously.

During their stay the girls will be given a tour of a local high school and learn more about the Bajan education system. They will shop at local markets and cook for each other in their self-catering accommodation located on the edge of Oistens on the south west coast of the island.

They will also tour the island, visiting the capital Bridgetown, as well as other famous sites, such as Oistens, Sandy Lane, Holetown, Mullins Bay and experience swimming with giant turtles on a one-day catamaran cruise.

This wonderful opportunity to visit Barbados has been supported by very generous local business sponsorship. Fresh Event Hire and Cap Technology of Hampton Heath have sponsored all 25 Kukri hoodies. Woodlands Ice Cream of Erbistock, Fresh Event Hire, Belcan ATC and Laysite of Tarporley have sponsored two sets of Kukri match shirts and Budgens of Tattenhall have sponsored Kukri tracksuit trousers.

Match balls have been sponsored by Mrs Williamson and Mr and Mrs Chapman and Mrs Jackson and Mr and Mrs Walker-Smith have kindly sponsored gifts for our opposition.

The girls have been fundraising for over two years now baking and selling cakes and running KS3 disco events. They played in a four hour non-stop netball match on Saturday, January 10 raising funds for their own expenses. The girls are committed and enthusiastic netball players who have attended clubs and represented the school on a regular basis since Year 7.

PE staff, Louse Robinson, Jayne Haggis and Hannah Skelton, will accompany the girls on the visit and all are now making final arrangements for what should be a trip of a lifetime.
