THE lift at Mecca Bingo in Ellesmere Port has been repaired, much to the relief of its elderly customers.

One disabled woman contacted the Pioneer last week saying she could no longer play bingo at the hall in Marina Walk because the lift was not working.

She said: “I was assured that the lift would be fixed by the end of February. It’s been broken on and off for the last year so I’ve only been able to go a couple of times.

“I love playing bingo. I’m in my 70s so it gives me something enjoyable to do and it’s a reason for me to get out of the house. There will be a lot of people in the same boat”

A Mecca Bingo spokeswoman said: “The lift is now working. We’ve had to wait for a specialist part to arrive and for it to be fitted.

“But there was a service lift available while the main lift was broken to make the hall accessible.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
