BUSINESS leaders and representatives from organisations across the area will be celebrating another successful year at South Cheshire College in Crewe on Thursday.

More than 90 delegates will be attending the college’s Annual General Meeting and Business Breakfast.

During the event the accounts and financial statements for the 2006/07 academic year will be announced, which highlight how the college has gone from strength-to-strength during that time.

Steven Broomhead, chief executive of the Northwest Regional Development Agency, will be the guest speaker at the event.

He will be joined by chairman of the College Corporation Board Ken Lea, principal Dr David Collins CBE and other members of the senior management team.

During 2006 and 2007 there were a number of new developments at the college, most notably the announcement of the £70 million campus which is set to be completed in 2010 and is expected to revolutionise further education in Crewe and Nantwich.

Mr Lea, chair of the corporation board, said: “Governors and the local community have become accustomed to expecting high levels of success and achievement from students and staff of the college and the 2006/07 year was no different.”
