The athlete who helped reinvent British gymnastics popped up at a primary school and inspired youngsters to take up sport.

Beth Tweddle’s visit to Wolverham Primary saw her talking to the children about her achievements and demonstrating some gymnastics.

The school says it was a really exciting morning for all of the children and many were inspired to start taking part in sport-related activities.

Some of the youngsters have already joined a gymnastics academy owned by Beth and based at the new Ellesmere Port Sports Village.

Beth competed in three Olympic games between 2004 and 2012.
