Pupils at a Westminster Park school have received their daily bread in Chester city centre.

As part of a design and technology project on the diet staple, pupils from Belgrave Primary School, visited La Fattoria Italian restaurant to bake bread and also see how pasta is made.

Governor and volunteer at the school Steve Telford accompanied the Year 4 children on their visit.

After a warm welcome from Angelo and his team at the Lower Bridge Street eatery, the children experienced the dough making process and learnt about adding yeast and salt before having a turn at kneading and shaping their own piece of dough.

The youngsters then watched Angelo demonstrate how to make fresh pasta, including tagliatelle, gnocchi and ravioli. They then all gave a helping hand in shaping some fusilli.

The visit culminated in everyone sitting down to enjoy a bowl of the pasta coated in a tomato and garlic sauce before walking back to school warmed by their fresh bread cupped in their hands.
