THE Chester office of national accountants and business advisors, Baker Tilly, has boosted its tax team with the appointment of Simon Smith.

Simon specialises in assisting with the tax affairs of individuals who live and work abroad, and those who come to live in the UK.

In his new role at Baker Tilly, he will provide expatriate support in relation to income tax, national insurance contributions, capital gains and inheritance tax liability issues.

Simon joins the Chester office’s 16-strong tax team from BDO Stoy Hayward. Prior to this he worked for the expatriate department at Ernst & Young in Germany for five years.

Graham Garner-Jones, tax partner at the Chester office of Baker Tilly, said: “In order to continue growing both our personal and corporate tax departments, it’s crucially important that we invest in high quality people.

“Simon’s international experience complements the skills in our existing tax team extremely well and I have no doubt he will be an asset to the firm.”
