A LORRY packed with bacon was hijacked in the early hours of yesterday from Chesford Grange, in Warrington when the driver was disturbed in his cab.

He had stopped there at 10pm the night before to sleep overnight before continuing on his journey.

Five men got in and restrained him before driving for 45 minutes to an unknown location.

After that the driver was moved into another car and driven way.

He was then held hostage for just over two hours as he was driven around Cheshire.

The driver was dumped at Moss Lane in Warrington and the cab and trailer were both found burnt out in Swinton, Manchester. The bacon, in large catering packs, was gone.

The cab is described as a Scania 124 with a white roof and windshield with Fruit Haulage written on it.

The dashboard had a Scotland flag on it with "Scotland the Brave" printed on it.

Anyone with any information about the theft, or who saw the vehicle yesterday should call 01244 613835 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
