I COULD just about bring myself to look at the league table after Saturday's victory - thank goodness we're back on the winning trail ahead of the international break.

Despite an awful September, the good thing is that no teams have made any sort of breakaway.

We're still in with a great shout of promotion, and last Saturday's 3-0 win over Stockport again proved that on our day we will beat anyone at this level.

The sending off helped, but after that we were patient and made them chase shadows. By the second half they were shattered and we looked like scoring every time we went forward.

Jon Walters scored a cracker and led the line excellently. I was talking with a mate of mine who supports Blackburn and he said that Jon was picked out as a potential replacement for Alan Shearer before it all went wrong at Ewood Park.

Last Saturday's goal was classic Shearer. Perhaps we sell him to Newcastle for £17m.

Mark Jones grabbed the other two - and I'm a bit surprised that he didn't get the nod for the full international squad.

Toshack picked Bristol City's David Cotterill, who's only netted twice in a struggling team this season, rather than a five-goal star with a great touch and balance.

I would say Tosh knows what he's doing - but that doesn't really look the case does it.
