RUDHEATH author John Malam took time out to work with adult learners at the Verdin Centre in Winsford last week.

John dropped into the literacy class last Monday to help promote the national Six Book challenge, which aims to encourage reluctant readers to brush up on their skills.

Tutor Julie Hood said: “My students are taking part in the challenge between January and June, and I thought it would inspire them to meet a real author.”

John writes children’s non-fiction books and has more than 200 published books to his name.

He is also a National Literacy Trust ‘Reading Champion’ for his work to improve literacy.
