AN AWESOME foursome wrote their names into the history books as Wrexham Athletic Club stormed the North Wales Track & Field Championships.

There were championship-best performances for Daniel Hodgson, in the Under 17s men’s pole vault (3.60), Tom Cusworth, in the U17s men’s 200m (23.0), Stephen Walker, in the senior men’s 1,500m walk (7.26.8), and Mike Robbins, in the veteran men’s 3,000m (9.58.3), at the Deeside Stadium event.

Veterans men: Mike Robbins (3,000m – 1 9.58.3NR), Steven Spires (100m – 1 13.5, high jump – 1 1.45, triple jump – 1 10.26, long jump – 1 4.78), David James (100m – 2 13.7, 200m – 1 27.7, high jump – 2 1.30).

Senior men: Stephen Walker (1,500m – 1 7.26.8NR), Neil Edwards (110m hurdles – 1 19.7, shot – 1 10.02, long jump – 1 5.29, pole vault – 1 3.20), Nik Mesney (100m – 1 11.7, 200m – 1 23.2).

U20s men: Cynan Evans (400m – 1 51.9).

U17s men: David Hooson (100m hurdles – 1 17.3), James Roberts (800m – 1 2.10.8), Thomas Cusworth (100m – 1 12.6, 200m – 1 23.0NR, long jump – 1 6.00), Daniel Williams (100m – 2 13.0, 200m – 2 24.8), Gareth Bennett (100m – 3 13.2, 400m – 1 55.1), James Rich (400m – 3 56.0), Geraint Jeffries (200m – 3 27.13), Daniel Hodgson (high jump – 1 1.45, pole vault – 1 3.60).

U15s boys: David Blower (800m – 1 2.20.1, 300m – 1 41.3), William Poole (100m – 4 14.3, long jump – 2 4.46, javelin – 1 26.90), Matthew Rich (shot – 2 5.80, javelin – 3 17.21), Rory Jones (javelin – 2 24.76).

U13s boys: Michael McNee (4 – 5.32.0), Geraint Breeze (100m – 2 15.3, 200m – 2 30.4, long jump – 1 4.01).

U17s women: Chloe Jones (300m – 1 41.9, long jump – 1 4.75), Nia Breeze (100m – 1 14.2, 200m – 1 29.3), Jennifer Coppell (hammer – 1 18.86, shot – 2 6.75, javelin – 1 19.19), Lydia David (shot – 1 9.03, discus – 1 21.52).

U15s girls: Manon Edwards (75m hurdles – 5 14.7, shot – 1 8.05, javelin – 2 22.22), Emily Rowlands (800m – 4 3.02.8), Helen Blower (100m – 5 15.4, 200m – 5 32.1), Hannah Browning (high jump – 3 1.35, long jump – 4 4.07).

U13s girls: Melys Edwards (70m hurdles – 2 14.8, 100m – 5 16.7), Amy Odinaiya (100m – 3 16.2, high jump – 2 1.05).

U11s girls: Neve Evans (4 – 80m 13.4).

Former Wrexham aces Laura Douglas and Robyn Purchase also set championship records. Commonwealth Games star Douglas, now of Sale Harriers, won the senior women’s hammer with a massive personal best of 64.16, while Purchase, now of Leeds City Athletic Club, won the U20s women’s in 40.10.
