WALES captains Megan Rogers and Tom Cusworth were medal winners at the Schools International in Antrim.

Rogers came second in the 300m hurdles (44.35) while Cusworth raced to third in the 200m (22.66) as well as finishing eighth in the long jump (5.86).

Three more Wrexham Athletic Club rising stars competed at the big Northern Ireland event. Hannah Thomas was fifth in the 200m (25.48), Chloe Jones eighth in the 300m (43.04) and James Roberts eighth in the 1,500m (4.24.4).

Thomas and Rogers, meanwhile, have claimed McCain Top 10 awards for their UK Power of 10 rankings in 2008, along with their coaches Geoff Ward and Glyn Davies. Rogers was first in the Under 17s women’s 300m hurdles and eighth in the 300m while Thomas was second in the U17s women’s 200m and fourth in the 100m.

Age-class joy for Charles

CHARLES Ashley was the third-fastest M50 in 92nd (1.31.28) at the International Snowdon Mountain Race. Wrexham Athletic Club colleague Geoff Richards completed the challenging course in 238th (1.46.23).

Daniel Weston led Wrexham’s charge in the Packwood 10k. He was third in 36.49 followed by Robert Jones in 18th (40.24) and Gillian Csizmadia in 73rd (56.12).

Mike Edwards finished 58th (86.24) in the Moel Siabod Fell Race.
