FIVE Vale Royal athletes received an invitation to run at the British Milers Club Nike Grand Prix at the weekend and once again it was Rebecca Craigie who shone brightest.

The 17-year-old claimed victory in her 800m race at Solihull in a time of two minutes nine seconds. Runners of various ages and standards ran together but Craigie was unfazed to seal a season’s-best time and victory.

Also in the 800m, 20-year-old James Griffiths earned third in his race in a time of one min 54secs while Steve Stockton ran a personal-best time of two mins seven secs to finish second in her race.

In the Frank Howell Junior Women Mile, Megan Huxley, 15, also ran a personal best time (five mins two secs) but could not get herself onto the podium as she finished fourth.

In the same event, Jade Evans performed admirably, recording a personal-best time of five mins 21secs to finish ninth.
