WREXHAM Athletic Club’s men’s team have been promoted following the final race of the Border League season in Wrexham.
Their men finished second overall in Division Two while their women were fourth in Division Two. There were also age-class awards for Mike Robbins (M45) and Lisa Morley (L35).
Robbins led the charge in the concluding contest in 15th (21.39), making him the fastest M45, while Morley was the fastest W35 in passing the post in 11th (26.06) in the women’s race.
Wrexham’s other finishers were: 19 Daniel Weston (21.52), 52 Antony Tibbetts (23.19), 62 Robert Jones (23.38), 92 Chris Evans (24.39), 95 David Rogers (24.47), 105 Adrian Bryan (25.17), 108 Geoff Richards (25.23), 117 Charles Ashley (25.42), 152 Melvyn Ollier (27.25), 157 Jonathan Davies (27.34), 168 Bob Frost (28.12), 177 Ian Carson (28.53).
Ian James was Wrexham’s star in the Chester Half Marathon as he came home in fourth (1.16.38), making him the fastest M45. He was followed by: 118 Rogers (1.29.49), 156 Morley (1.31.48 – second W35), 562 Davies (1.44.17), 723 Linda Hampton-Jones (1.46.31), 811 Debbie Dodd (1.48.27).
The in-form James also finished third (2.03.28) in the South Cheshire 20 Mile Road Race in Crewe, which again made him the fastest M45.
Phil Walker, Mike Edwards and Frost were 24th in the M60 category at the British Masters Road Relays in Sutton Coldfield.
