VALE Royal star Stevie Stockton earned a silver success at the National Under 23 Championships.

Her under-par time of four minutes 29 seconds was good enough for second at the Bedford International Athletics Stadium on Sunday.

Meanwhile clubmate Rebecca Craigie earned northern pride after she claimed a silver medal at the Northern Athletics Track and Field Championships.

The Knights Grange club’s cross country England international finished second in the under 20s women’s 1,500m final at Sport City, in Manchester.

Her time of four minutes 26 seconds would have been enough for gold had Craigie been competing in the senior women’s race.

Two other Vale Royal athletes also returned with medals as Eleanor Owen earned a bronze in the U20 women’s long jump.

Owen was fourth in the triple jump after clubmate Ruth Howard won the bronze.

Elsewhere at the championships, James Griffiths narrowly missed out on a medal as he finished fourth in the senior men’s 1,500m while Richard Tranter suffered the same fate in the U20s triple jump.
