FOUR pregnant guinea pigs have given a care home in Great Sutton a dilemma.

After taking a brood of petting animals under their wing, Astbury Lodge in Great Sutton will soon be welcoming a wave of newcomers as four of their guinea pigs are expecting.

The CLS-run care home, which took on the animals for residents to look after, is now home to five chickens, five guinea pigs and a rabbit, all living in their newly-renovated gardens.

Astbury’s animals have quickly become part of the family, with residents feeding and watching them in the special coop and hut built for their cute companions.

But with more guinea pigs on the way, the care home is looking for new homes for their adopted animals, and wants the local community to help.

Janice Johnson, home manager at Astbury Lodge, said: “The residents could not be happier with our animals, and while we’re all excited for our new babies to arrive, there simply isn’t the room for them at the care home.

“We’re looking for anyone in the area, who thinks they can provide a good home to a baby guinea pig, to get in touch.”

If anybody is interested in taking on one of the baby guinea pigs, call the care home on 0151 3557043.
