A NATIONAL Assembly for Wales minister and Wrexham’s AM paid a visit to see the work of Wrexham’s Women’s Aid.
The Minister for Social Justice and Local Government, Dr Brian Gibbons, joined Lesley Griffiths AM on the visit to discuss with staff the work undertaken at the centre and what the Assembly policy is doing to tackle domestic abuse.
Wrexham Women’s Aid was set up by women for vulnerable women and their children who have suffered or who are suffering from physical, mental, sexual and financial abuse.
Commenting on her visit with the minister, Ms Griffiiths said: “The centre provides a hugely vital service to some of the most vulnerable women and children in the Wrexham area by offering a safe environment to those who need fast and confidential help.”
The visit was made during an important consultation period, in which the Assembly is seeking the public’s views on a new strategic plan aimed at tackling violence against women and children.
The draft action plan builds on the All Wales Domestic Abuse strategy which was published in 2005.
