A HAZARDOUS materials unit was needed to help tackle a fire involving asbestos.

Firefighters from Ellesmere Port, Heswall and Upton, Wirral, attended the Old Express Dairies, Chester High Road, Neston, at 1.15pm on Wednesday.

The cause is being investigated.

On Thursday, arsonists torched a skip at the rear of Overpool Road, Ellesmere Port, at 7.30pm and set fire to the tyres of a bike in Whitby Park at 7.53pm.

Fire crews pumped out the basement of a pub in Hooton at 10pm on July 9 after it flooded in heavy rain. Two hours earlier they gave advice to staff at a bookies in Station Road, Ellesmere Port which had flooded.

Both appliances from Ellesmere Port were called on to douse a blazing wood pile at Abbotts Grange Farm, Welsh Road, Ledsham at 6.46pm on July 7.

Car crashed into ditch

A TEENAGER was taken to hospital with a back injury following a car crash.

Ambulance paramedics were called to Rivacre Road, Little Sutton, at 10.49pm on July 14 to find a vehicle which had driven into a ditch.

A service spokeswoman said: “A male in his late teens had suffered a back injury and was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital.”

A man was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital with injuries following a car crash in Bendee Road, Little Neston, at 2.30am on July 11.
